Petrol prices will not increase

Although the Parliament has announced a 30% VAT on petrol prices, the final price should not be increased, emphasizes the Energy Committee of the Parliament.

The new VAT is the sum of the various kinds of taxes applied to petrol. Petrol price in Iran is 10,000 IRR per liter (30 USD Cents).

According to the newest Act approved by the Parliament, there will be no VAT applied to oil and gas. The tax applied to jet fuel, Kerosene (paraffin) and Mazut is 30%, 15% and 10% respectively.

Insurance for visitors to Ayatollah Khomeini shrine

Member of the Board of Directors at Iran Insurance, Mohammad Heidari, has said that Iran Insurance Co., Asia Insurance Co., Alborz Insurance Co. and Dana Insurance Co. have signed an insurance contract with the Headquarters for the Commemoration of Ayatollah Khomeini under leadership from Iran Insurance Co.

“On this basis, all pilgrims visiting the shrine of Imam Khomeini from May 31st to June 10th are under the coverage of accident, life and responsibility insurance by Ian Insurance Co.”, added Mohammad Heidari.

This plan covers all pilgrims attending from organizations, official and unofficial institutions, religious and popular delegations which are attending the 28th anniversary of the passing of Ayatollah Khomeini and have received confirmation from the Central Committee for the Commemoration of Ayatollah Khomeini.

Ruhollah Khomeini was born in 1902 in Khomeyn, a small city in Markazi Province. He passed away on 3 June 1989 suffering five heart attacks in five days only.

Fire in Khuzestan

Last week, 80 hectares of woods in the province of Khuzestan were lost in 10 hours due to 2 wildfires. 50 hectares from Karkhe National Park and 30 hectares of Kasht Valley Jungles in Mishdaqh Hills an Azadegan Valley in the province of Khuzestan faced wildfire.

Karkhe Protected Zone is 14 thousand hectares, 7500 hectares of which is a national park. The plant life in the area is composed of tamarix, desert poplar, jujube, wild berries, willows etc.

The Director of Natural Resources and Watershed in the Province of Khuzestan, Ahmad Motiei, said: “These accidents were caused by hikers who start fires and do not properly put out the coals after leaving. Since the fire was in sand hills which are difficult to access, we were unable to use water tankers to put out the fires and only firefighter personnel were used. Since March of this year, there have been 11 fires in the fields and woods of the province of Khuzestan which has damaged 270 hectares.”
